A little about the Wet Denim project
Giuseppe Dante Sapienza is a portrait photographer from Melbourne, Australia.
The inspiration for Wet Denim came several years ago when Giuseppe stumbled upon a great photograph of David Beckham emerging from a pool in denim jeans. First thing that came to mind was how great denim looked wet.
The jeans and no top look is a classic style, done in many many different ways by many photographers. It's a simple yet effective look, that even big denim brands use in their advertising.
Giuseppe wanted to give the classic look a go in a series of his own. The process... shoot it in black and white, in a favourite little concrete room in his studio, with interesting and fun people, and then add water.
Gritty, sexy, wet and fun!
Giuseppe put a casting call to test the idea and got some early interest from local models.
As he shot and posted a couple of teasers on social media, the requests from models and followers of his work to be a part of the project started flooding in. Male, female, tattooed, bodies of all shapes and sizes,
some that had never poses topless before or even modeled. This is what was making this project so special. A wide range of people were embracing the concept and wanting to be a part of it, and that enthusiasm for the project shined through in every single photo.
The photos have an honest and fun energy that eveyone seemed to be attracted to. For Giuseppe, it was important that everyone's own personality came through in the photos, and he encouraged it with personal items, styles, expressions and a sense of fun.
